Scripture: Proverbs 17:17, Sirach 6:5-17, John 15:12-15, 1 John 4:7
Main Ideas:
Friendship is an important part of our lives. God created us to live in communion, which is why we all desire friendship.
Our friends have a big influence on who we become, so it is important for us to know the qualities of good friendships.
Jesus calls us His friends and tells us there is no greater love than to lay down our lives for our friends.

Sturdy Shelter
Surrounding yourself with friends who are caring and compassionate is like having a sturdy shelter to live in. This is a fun activity to do together as a family.
Gather some or all of the following items: a blanket, a roll of tin foil, a newspaper, a cardboard box, a roll of wrapping paper, a roll of tape, a handful of rubber bands, a pair of scissors, a chair, and a bucket.
Each person take one item. Take 30 seconds to create a shelter with the one item you took.
Next, bring the family together and create a shelter using all of the items. See what you can build in 5 minutes.
Take a picture and email it to Sheila, stullier@ourladyofangels.com.
The following questions will be discussed at your next small group session. Also discuss them as a family:
Was it easier or harder to build a structure with only one item? Why?
Was it easier or harder to have to work with other people to build a structure? Why?
How does communication affect our ability to work well with other people?
How does good communication affect a friendship?
